Sav Noir To Unveil Controversial “Gucci Goth” Capsule Collection in DTLA
Designer Edwin Haynes Makes Nod to Dapper Dan’s Legacy of Remixed Luxury Deadstock
(Los Angeles, CA – Feb 10th, 2019) - For Sav Noir’s newest collection “Gucci Goth by Sav Noir,” the brand will return to its roots of doing things their own way - created from the underground, without the need to be tied to a larger fashion week production. This special event is taking place at an undisclosed warehouse in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, April 25th, 2019.
Gucci Goth by Sav Noir is an aesthetic departure from past offerings, while staying true to the brand’s rebellious spirit. Sav Noir Designer and Creative Director Edwin Haynes found inspiration in some luxury brands’ racial insensitivities, and makes a nod to urban fashion legend Dapper Dan, paying tribute to Dan’s truly pioneering fashions of the 80’s in NYC, blended with Haynes’ own take on liberation from expectations of modern perceived luxury.
“I’m doing the Gucci Goth Collection to reconstruct a corporate brand to reinvent it through a black man’s eyes from the underground – to interpret it from my alternative creative mind,” said Edwin Haynes, Designer and Creative Director of Sav Noir. “Things will never be the same after this. This collection is my effort toward steering the new conversation about what luxury to and from the street means to me.”
Sav Noir is proud to announce our Gucci Goth by Sav Noir fashion presentation partners: Meghan Harrington of Out Hair Salon in Santa Monica as Lead Hair using R+Co, Vanesa Vladislav as Key MUA using MAC Cosmetics, and the show will be styled by Devi Juarez of they.la.
